The Manawatu Golf Club has some of the best warm up and practice facilities in New Zealand.  One of the best features is that they are all centrally located by the Clubhouse, within a ‘stone throw’ of each other and very close to the starting holes of 1 & 10.   Please see these listed below.

Practice Range

In 2014 the Club put a cover over the existing practice range block to form a state of the art practice facility for golfers to hone their long games.  With a concrete base and the addition of all weather hitting pods in 2015, it is the ideal facility for golfers of all abilities to practice.  The hitting pods provide a great surface to hit irons right through to drivers, which can be teed up on a rubber tee coming through the mat.

The range has a number of target flags down the fairway ranging in distances. The range measures approximately 250M in length.

The range is also fitted with lights which allows for practice at night.  They provide great light above the hitting pods and the flood from these lights goes approximately 100M down the range.  The lights are on a timer with an easy push button to operate.  They stay on for 30 minutes at a time and can be used between 5am and 11pm.

The Practice Range is only a short 50M walk to the first tee.

Putting Green

In 2012 the Club rebuilt its main putting green which is located right behind the practice range and next to the driveway on the way into the Club.  It is 800m2 which allows golfers to practice any length of putt they may desire.  300m2 is laser leveled flat with the remaining 500m2 being contoured allowing golfers to practice up and down hill putts, as well as breaking putts from either direction.

The putting green is only a short 40M walk to the first tee.

Chipping Green

The Club has a well-established chipping green on the opposite side of the driveway to the putting green.  Although prominently a chipping green, it is of high quality and mirrors the greens on the Golf course very closely so can be used for practice putting.  Approximately 300m2 and a slight tilt from back to front, this green is commonly used by golfers who may start their round on the 10th tee which is a short 50M walk away around the back of the 9th green.

Hitting Nets

Next to the Chipping green (in the trees by the car park) are two hitting nets with all-weather hitting pods that golfers can warm up in before a round.  The pods are also equipped with tees to allow drivers to be hit into these nets.

Bunkered Chipping Green

At the back of the car park, located near the 12th green and 13th tee, is the bunkered chipping green.  This green, like the chipping green, is maintained to the highest quality and is equal to those out on the Golf course. The green has two white sand bunkers next to it which are also of equal quality to the bunkers on the Golf course. The green is approximately 400m2 and allows for not only bunker shots to be practiced but pitch shots ranging from 20m to 40m from mown surrounds or rough.
