Final Results 2012 New Zealand Golf Women’s Autumn Foursomes

Omanu partners, Shona McQueen-Carroll and Susie Hikairo (Bay of Plenty Masters representative) have won the 2012 New Zealand Golf Women’s Autumn Foursomes, 3/1 over Lynn Pedersen (Wairakei) and Viv Nyssen (Taupo GC) in a closely fought match.  Initially down through 5 holes, McQueen-Carroll and Hikairo then won five in a row to be 4 up after 9 holes.  Nyssen and Pedersen fought back to get within one on the par 5, 15th.  The Omanu pair then had a birdie on the par 3, 16th, and with a double hit from Pedersen on the 17th, the match was conceded.
 
McQueen-Carroll and Hikairo had earlier in the day won their semi-final match 2/1 over local Manawatu club members Edna Short and Viv Gillespie.  Pedersen and Nyssen secured their place in this afternoons final with a win this morning, 3/2 over Masterton club members Jocelyn Pollock and Julie Hamilton.
 
For first round losers the consolation trophy, the NZLGU Salver was won on the 18th hole, 2 up by Amber Thompson-Newth,(Castlecliff) the youngest player in the tournament at only 16, paired with Lee Pudney from Rangitikei.   Thompson-Newth and Pudney beat Tish Amon and Deb Taylor who are both members of Wairakei.  To reach the afternoon final Thompson-Newth had beaten Christine Selwyn and Rahira Ellison 1up this morning while Amon and Taylor had a win 1up also, over Ginny Bolderston and Liz Lewis from Geraldine, in their morning semi-finals.
 
The full list of plate winners in the Championship Cup include Rachel Tynan and Sandy Evans (Titirangi), Pam Prenter (Dannevirke) and Joan Frost (Wairakei), Deb Noble and Margot Tansley (Omanu), Alison Odlin and Pauline McLafferty (Titirangi), Mary Haggas (Waitomo) paired with daughter Helen Haggas (Manawatu), Stratford members Ann Braithwaite and Sheryl Stanners, and Helen Weber & Elizabeth Lander (Manawatu).
 
Plate winners in the NZLGU Salver included Lynette Boswell and Trixie Harvey (Westown), Robyn Knight and Viv Peters (Mt Maunganui), Robyn Howarth and Gloria Mayes from Springfield, Jeanette Beehre and Judy Duncan from Mt Maunganui, Lindy Wheeler and Sharon Brass from Pahiatua, with local’s Robyn Higgins and Pam Lamberton from the host club, Manawatu.
 
The tournament is managed by PaR nz Golfing Holidays on behalf of New Zealand Golf Club who announced that the 2013 tournament will be held at the Taumarunui Golf Club.
