Who can play

If you have a handicap index of 36.4 (boys) and 40.4 (girls) or lower you are eligible to play in junior pennants.  At the Manawatu Club we have two teams in both the 'A' and 'B' grades (16 players) and these players are played in handicap order.  We can take as many 'Alpha' players as we like. 'Alphas' play 18 holes in each round - Stableford competition.

How do I get selected

Just let the Junior Convenor know that you want to play.

2007 Juniors Tournament Schedule

This schedule enables the junior members to play in tournaments outside of the Sunday club program and the Pennants competition. It also gives them the opportunity to play other courses within the competition environment. The junior members will be encouraged to attend as many of these tournaments as possible. There are two “away” tournaments this year and this is a good opportunity for the juniors to have a fun time with their golfing friends in the Hawkes Bay.

Who can play

Anyone with a NZGA handicap can submit an entry to these tournaments.  Final selection is made by the organisers (home club) based on limits to the size of the field against handicap index.  Players might not make the field if their handicap is too high (But refunds of entry fees are given if you miss out). For Junior tournaments like the Waikanae Junior Open if you have a handicap you will get in.

How do I get selected

Keep an eye on websites associated with the host clubs for tournament advertising and entry forms. Fill out and send in per the host club instruction.  For some tournaments we will have entry forms placed in the Card Room at our club.  For the senior 'Open' tournaments you may not get in if your handicap index is over (say) 12 for boys and perhaps 25 for girls (Remember selections are finalised based upon the lower handicaps).

The golf development tournaments require experienced players who show a real commitment to golf as their primary sport and representing the Manawatu/Wanganui region.  Selection is completed by the regional golf development officer.  It is important that players seeking selection perform consistently in club competitions, handicap rounds and in inter-club competitions during their development. The selector will be keeping an eye on your progress through the NZGA website.

Selection for the Caltex Eagles tournament will be based on the results of the Silk and Kelly Cup to be played at Rangitïkei on 29 April this year.  If you win your division you will be selected.
